Bloody Bastards is a 2D physics-based fighting game set in a medieval world. There is no detailed story campaign with dialogue or cutscenes. The basic premise is that the player fights a series of opponents, including the character’s own “bastard brothers,” in arena battles. Progress is based on defeating enemies, moving through many levels, and collecting better equipment for later fights.
Fighting With Both Hands
Combat uses ragdoll physics instead of fixed attack animations. Each of the fighter’s hands can be controlled separately, allowing the player to swing weapons, block attacks, and change the angle of a strike. Movement is also controlled independently, so positioning matters when trying to reach an opponent without exposing the character to another attack. Because bodies and weapons react to physics, the same weapon can behave differently depending on distance, timing, and how the player moves.
Weapons, Armor, and Equipment
Bloody Bastards contains a large amount of equipment that can be combined into different fighting setups. Weapons vary in speed, reach, and the way they behave during physical collisions. Players can use:
· daggers for close-range attacks;
· swords with different lengths and handling;
· axes for heavier strikes;
· maces and hammers;
· shields for blocking attacks;
· head, body, and leg armor;
· different equipment combinations for each fighter.
There are hundreds of weapons and armor pieces, giving players many ways to change how a character performs in battle.
The game contains many separate levels set in different locations. Each level introduces another opponent, and enemies become more difficult as the player continues. Winning requires more than repeatedly swinging a weapon because armor, weapon reach, movement, and the position of both fighters affect the result. A heavy weapon can cause strong damage but may also be harder to control, while shields and protective equipment can help the player survive longer.
Single-Player and Multiplayer Fights
Bloody Bastards includes both single-player battles and multiplayer competition. In multiplayer, players fight other people using the same physics-based combat system, making movement and weapon control less predictable than against AI opponents.
The main gameplay loop consists of entering a fight, controlling both arms, attacking or blocking at the correct moment, defeating the opponent, and improving the character with different equipment. There are no exploration sections, puzzle levels, or traditional RPG quests. The game focuses almost entirely on medieval arena fights, physics-based weapon control, equipment combinations, level progression, and multiplayer battles.
