Pogostuck is a physics-based precision platformer where the player climbs large obstacle courses while riding a pogo stick. There is no traditional story, dialogue-driven campaign, or named protagonist with a narrative goal. The main objective is simply to reach higher areas without falling. Movement depends on tilting the character, controlling jumps, using momentum, and performing 360-degree power boosts to cross gaps or gain additional height.
Climbing With Momentum
The main mountain works as one continuous level rather than a collection of short stages. Platforms, slopes, moving objects, narrow surfaces, and large gaps create different challenges as the player climbs. Falling does not usually restart the entire game, but it can send the character far down the mountain and force the player to repeat sections. Learning how the pogo stick reacts to different surfaces is therefore more important than simply moving quickly.
More Than One Mountain
Pogostuck also includes additional maps and modes that change the basic climbing structure. Players can take part in several different activities:
路 climb the original mountain;
路 explore Map 2, a 1,000-meter-deep chasm;
路 travel through Map 3 with multiple possible routes;
路 play cooperatively while tethered to other players;
路 explore randomly generated dungeons;
路 fight enemies in Loot With Your Friends;
路 use skating mechanics in Skate With Your Friends.
Some of these modes add abilities or mechanics that are not part of the standard pogo-stick climb.
Multiplayer allows players to climb alongside friends or strangers. Automatic matchmaking can place up to 16 players together, although everyone can still concentrate on reaching the top at their own pace. Other modes use direct cooperation, including Tethered To Your Friends, where players are connected by a flexible tether and must deal with each other’s movement. Leaderboards and live rankings also allow completion times and performance to be compared.
Controlling Every Jump
Success depends on controlling the angle of the character before and during each bounce. Players need to judge where the pogo stick will land, rotate correctly, preserve momentum, and avoid making large corrections that can cause a fall. There are no weapons or upgrades in the main climbing mode, so progress comes mainly from improving movement skills and memorizing difficult sections.
Pogostuck can be played alone or with other players, and characters can be customized with unlockable gear. The basic gameplay loop remains focused on repeated attempts: climb, reach a difficult obstacle, experiment with a jump, fall if the movement is incorrect, and try again with better timing.
